Can you buy real Instagram followers?
Plenty of sellers promise “real, active, British” followers. We won’t. Below: why not, what any follower package really delivers, and where genuine followers come from.
Not in the sense the adverts imply. Nobody can sell you people who decided, of their own accord, that your posts are worth following; that only happens organically or through paid promotion. What a package delivers is a higher follower count.
What “real” usually means in an advert
When a site sells “real Instagram followers”, it usually means each account has a picture, a display name and some posts, enough to pass a quick glance. That describes the accounts’ appearance; it says nothing about whether anyone is choosing to follow you and will see, like or reply to your posts. “Active” tends to mean the account has posted at some point. “UK” is almost never something a seller can control at scale.
We sell follower packages too, and our followers will appear in your list like any others. We just refuse to label them real, active or British: we couldn’t back those labels up, and you couldn’t check them.
Why sellers can’t deliver genuinely interested people
A genuine follower is someone who saw your content, decided they wanted more of it, and tapped Follow. You can’t manufacture that decision. You can only put your content in front of more people, which is what Instagram’s own promotion tools and good organic content do. Anything that delivers a fixed number of followers on a fixed timetable for a few pounds is, by definition, not that.
So what is a follower package for?
Social proof. A higher count changes how a profile looks to someone seeing it for the first time, and on a fresh account it can decide whether a visitor scrolls on or takes a proper look. That is a narrow job, but a real one, and it’s the honest pitch for what we sell. See the follower packages if that’s what you’re after.
Where real followers actually come from
- Reels that people send to friends. Instagram has said publicly that shares carry a lot of weight for showing content to non-followers.
- Carousels people save. Useful, specific, “I’ll come back to this” posts.
- Collaborations. Collab posts appear on both accounts and introduce you to an audience that already trusts the other person.
- Local visibility. Location tags, local hashtags and being tagged by customers. Our guide to growing a local account goes into this.
- Paid promotion. Boosting a post through Instagram puts it in front of people chosen by interest and location. It’s dearer than a follower package, yet everyone reached is a genuine person.
How to tell if a seller is overselling
Be wary of guarantees of “100% real” or “no drop”, promises of a specific country, star ratings you can’t trace to anything, requests for your password, and weekly subscriptions that keep adding followers. If a site says its followers will engage with your posts, ask how; there’s rarely an answer. Our article on spotting fake followers shows the patterns from the other side.
